Ewan MacDonald (Inverness, SCO) finished 8-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacDonald defeated Gary Cannell (Braehead, SCO) 11-3, then won 9-4 against Duncan Gracie (Lockerbie, SCO). MacDonald went on to lose 7-5 against John Hamilton (Edinburgh, SCO). MacDonald responded with a 7-5 win over Duncan Menzies (Forfar, SCO). MacDonald won 10-6 against Frazer Hare (Stranraer, SCO), then won 9-1 against Graeme MacKenzie (Inverness, SCO) and 9-2 against Sandy Reid (Forfar, SCO). MacDonald won 8-2 against Blair Fraser (Inverness, SCO), then won 12-3 against Struan Macnee (Edinburgh, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
