Gushue won 10-6 against Scott Manners (Battleford, SK). Gushue went on to lose 6-4 against Terry Odishaw (Moncton, NB). Gushue responded with a 10-5 win over Mike Gaudet (Charlottetown, PEI). Gushue won 7-3 against Robert Desjardins (Chicoutimi, PQ) in their final qualifying round match.

Gushue earned 10.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Gushue move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 3.28 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 9th overall with 181.883 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
