In their opening game, Ryan defeated Brian Mercer (Labrador City, NL) 9-3, then won 8-2 against Peddigrew and 11-4 against Donnette Turpin (Labrador City, NL). Ryan went on to lose 5-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). Ryan responded with a 8-3 win over Gary Wensman (Labrador City, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
