In their opening game, Sambor lost 8-6 to Scott Edie (Middletown, MD), then responded with a 7-6 win over Craig Disher (Rolla, ND). Sambor won 7-2 against Steve Sirianni (Wausau, WI). Sambor went on to lose 7-2 against Ken Neidhart (Lodi, WI). Sambor responded with a 7-5 win over Leland Rich (Fairbanks, AK) in their final qualifying round match.
