Mikkelsen won 6-2 against Matt Dumontelle (Sudbury, ON). Mikkelsen went on to lose 7-5 against Ontario's Mike Jakubo. Mikkelsen responded with a 7-1 win over Matt Paul (Ottawa, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Mikkelsen earned 2.150 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Kia Curling Classic Superspiel.
