Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) qualified for the 2011 Westcoast Curling Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-4 against Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB).  of the 2011 Westcoast Curling Classic in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada; 
 
Cotter finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cotter defeated Randie Shen (Taipei City, CTP) 7-2, then went on to lose 8-4 against Brock Virtue (Calgary, AB). Cotter responded with a 6-5 win over Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB). Cotter won 6-3 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB), then won 7-3 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Cotter earned 10.950 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Westcoast Curling Classic, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 17th place overall with 85.025 total points. Cotter ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.600 points earned so far this season.
