McEwen went on to lose 6-3 against Switzerland's Peter De Cruz. McEwen responded with a 7-2 win over Rob Rumfeldt (Guelph, ON). McEwen won 7-1 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB), then won 8-2 against Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
McEwen earned 20.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Sun Life Classic, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 406.030 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 167.710 points earned so far this season.
