Hemmings finished 5-2 in the 29-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hemmings lost 7-6 to Jeff Clark (Cobourg, ON), then responded with a 6-1 win over Sean Aune (Toronto, ON). Hemmings responded with a 6-2 win over Bowie Abbis-Mills (Waterloo, ON). Hemmings won 8-6 against Heath McCormick (New York, NY) in their final qualifying round match.
