Howard won 6-1 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL), then won 7-4 against Stoughton. Howard went on to lose 5-4 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). Howard responded with a 11-1 win over Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI). Howard won 9-2 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, Y/NWT). Howard went on to lose 6-5 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
