Howard finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated
Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC) 8-2, then won
8-4 against
Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) and
6-3 against
Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Victoria Curling Classic Invitational Championship title, Howard earned
25.760 world rankings points along with the $22,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the
World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 7.2 after improving upon their best so far this season. Howard ranks 3rd overall on the
Year-to-Date rankings with
217.520 points earned so far this season.
