Matchett finished 2-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matchett defeated Tim Morrison (Whitby, ON) 8-3, then went on to lose 6-0 against Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON). Matchett responded with a 6-5 win over Ian Fleming (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Brantford Nissan Classic Championship title, Matchett earned 23.600 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 11th place overall with 164.180 total points. Matchett ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 64.920 points earned so far this season.
