Menard finished 4-1 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Menard defeated
Michael Fournier (Montreal, PQ) 9-2, then went on to lose
6-3 against
Ferland. Menard responded with a
7-5 win over
Steve Lodge (Brockville, ON). Menard won
8-5 against
Cory Heggestad (Barrie, ON), then won
10-2 against
Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Challenge Casino Lac Leamy Championship title, Menard earned
