Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB) lost 5-2 to Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC) in the Final of the September Shoot-Out, held September 17 - 20, 2009 in Edmonton, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Ferbey won 8-6 over Jamie King (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2009 September Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta; and won 8-3 over Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 September Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta;
 
Ferbey finished 5-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ferbey defeated Steve Petryk (Calgary, AB) 5-3, then won 9-1 against Doug Rae (Edmonton, AB) and 7-1 against Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB). Ferbey won 8-1 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT), then won 9-4 against Chris Schille (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the September Shoot-Out, Ferbey take home 16.750 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN prize. For week of the event schedule, Ferbey did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Ferbey ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
