Brent Scales (Swan River, MB) qualified for the 2009 Whites Drug Store Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-4 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2009 Whites Drug Store Classic in Swan River, Manitoba;

Scales finished 3-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Scales lost 5-4 to William Lyburn (Brandon, MB), then responded with a 5-4 win over Manitoba's Blair Goethals. Scales won 5-3 against Randy Bryden (Saskatoon, SK), then won 6-5 against Terry McNamee (Neepawa, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Scales earned 5.370 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Whites Drug Store Classic. For week of the event schedule, Scales did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Scales ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
