Georgina Wheatcroft (New Westminster, BC) finished 3-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wheatcroft defeated Marla Mallett (Vancouver, BC) 7-5, then went on to lose 8-6 against Switzerland's Mirjam Ott. Wheatcroft responded with a 7-3 win over Alberta's June Campbell. Wheatcroft won 4-3 against Barb Spencer (Winnipeg, MB). Wheatcroft went on to lose 7-2 against Amber Holland (Kronau, SK). Wheatcroft lost 6-2 to Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
