Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) qualified for the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-2 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). of the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;

Gunnlaugson finished 3-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gunnlaugson defeated Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) 4-3, then won 4-1 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Gunnlaugson went on to lose 8-6 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON). Gunnlaugson responded with a 8-5 win over Wayne Middaugh (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Gunnlaugson earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Cactus Pheasant Classic.
