Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) qualified for the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-5 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta;
 
Simmons finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons defeated Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) 5-4, then went on to lose 4-1 against Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON). Simmons responded with a 9-7 win over Claudio Pescia (St. Galler, SUI). Simmons won 5-3 against Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN), then won 5-3 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Simmons earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Cactus Pheasant Classic. For week of the event schedule, Simmons did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Simmons ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
