Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) won 5-3 over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the Cactus Pheasant Classic, held October 29 - November 1, 2009 in Brooks, Alberta. To advance to the championship game, Howard won 7-4 over Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2009 Cactus Pheasant Classic in Brooks, Alberta; and won 5-3 over Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals.
Howard finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Howard defeated Scott Egger (Brooks, AB) 7-3, then won 4-1 against Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) and 8-6 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Cactus Pheasant Classic Championship title, Howard earned 35.000 world rankings points along with the $22,000CDN first prize cheque. For week of the event schedule, Howard did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Howard ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
