Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2009 Westcoast Curling Classic in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada; and won
7-1 over
Chris Schille (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2009 Westcoast Curling Classic in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada;
Ursel finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ursel defeated
Wes Craig (Victoria, BC) 4-2, then won
7-1 against
Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB). Ursel went on to lose
5-4 against
Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON). Ursel responded with a
9-4 win over
Terry Meek (Calgary, AB). Ursel won
10-6 against
Geall, then won
6-2 against
Appelman in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Westcoast Curling Classic Championship title, Ursel earned
35.000 world rankings points along with the $16,000CDN first prize cheque. For week of the event schedule, Ursel did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the
