Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC) is set to play Bob Ursel (Kelowna, BC) in the Final of the Westcoast Curling Classic, held October 9 - 12, 2009 at the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Geall won 7-5 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the semifinals of the 2009 Westcoast Curling Classic in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada; and won 8-6 over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals.
Geall finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Geall defeated Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT) 6-3, then went on to lose 7-3 against Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB). Geall responded with a 6-1 win over Dale Matchett (Bradford, ON). Geall won 6-4 against Fengchun Wang (Harbin, CHN). Geall went on to lose 10-6 against Ursel. Geall responded with a 7-6 win over Koe. Geall won 5-1 against Wang in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Westcoast Curling Classic, Geall take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN prize. For week of the event schedule, Geall did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Geall ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
