Greg Monkman (New Westminster, BC) finished 2-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Monkman defeated Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC) 6-3, then went on to lose 8-2 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB). Monkman lost 7-5 to Japan's Yusuke Morozumi where Monkman responded with a 6-2 win over Dave Shortill (Victoria, BC). Monkman went on to lose 8-7 against Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
