Cathy King (Edmonton, AB) finished 3-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, King lost
5-1 to British Columbia's Georgina Wheatcroft, then responded with a 6-5 win over Jody Maskiewich (New Westminster, BC). King won 8-1 against Karen Powell (Grande Prairie, AB). King went on to lose 7-0 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK). King responded with a 5-4 win over Renee Sonnenberg (Grande Prairie, AB). King went on to lose 8-2 against Julie Reddick (Brantford, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
King earned 3.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, King did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. King ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
