Suzanne Birt (Charlottetown, PEI) finished 3-3 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birt lost 5-3 to Amber Holland (Kronau, SK), then responded with a 7-6 win over Janet McGhee (Uxbridge, ON). Birt won 9-4 against Jill Brothers (Halifax, NS), then won 8-3 against Marie-France Larouche (Quebec, PQ). Birt went on to lose 9-2 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK). Birt lost 4-3 to Cathy King (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

Birt earned 3.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week of the event schedule, Birt did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Birt ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
