Rankin5-2 at 2008 Sobeys Slam

Heather Rankin (Calgary, AB) finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Rankin lost 7-6 to Jill Brothers (Halifax, NS), then responded with a 7-5 win over Cathy King (Edmonton, AB). Rankin won 5-4 against Amber Holland (Kronau, SK), then won 6-4 against Cheryl Bernard (Calgary, AB) and 8-5 against Crystal Webster (Grande Prairie, AB). Rankin went on to lose 5-3 against Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK). Rankin responded with a 7-6 win over Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Rankin earned 18.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Sobeys Slam. For week of the event schedule, Rankin did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Rankin ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
