Stefanie Lawton (Saskatoon, SK) finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lawton defeated Janet McGhee (Uxbridge, ON) 4-3, then won 9-3 against Amber Holland (Kronau, SK) and 6-3 against Alison Goring (Thornhill, ON). Lawton went on to lose 8-6 against Mary-Anne Arsenault (Halifax, NS). Lawton responded with a 9-2 win over Suzanne Birt (Charlottetown, PEI). Lawton won 5-3 against Heather Rankin (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
