Howard Rajala (Ottawa, ) finished 5-2 in the 48-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Rajala defeated
Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC) 8-7, then went on to lose 10-4 against Kerry Burtnyk (Winnipeg, MB). Rajala lost 9-4 to Joe Frans (Oakville, ON) where Rajala responded with a 9-6 win over Martin Ferland (Trois-Rivières, QC). Rajala won 7-6 against James Kirkness (Winnipeg, MB), then won 7-5 against Mark Johnson (Edmonton, AB) and 8-4 against Jean-Michel Menard (Québec City/Gatineau, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
The berth into the first round of the John Shea Insurance Canada Cup Qualifier playoffs earned Rajala 0.000 world rankings points. For week of the event schedule, Rajala did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Rajala ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
