Jill Winters (Nelson, BC) finished 2-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Winters defeated Vicki Sjolie (Medicine Hat, AB, CAN) 9-8, then went on to lose 10-7 against Moe Meguro (Aomori, JPN). Winters responded with a 8-5 win over Jerri Pat Armstrong-Smith (Cranbrook, BC). Winters went on to lose 10-3 against Sjolie. Winters lost 10-5 to Faye White (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
