In their opening game, Brewster defeated Scott Hamilton (Lockerbie, SCO) 8-4, then went on to lose 7-6 against Gordon Muirhead (Pitlochry, SCO). Brewster responded with a 8-6 win over Alan Smith (Kilmarnock, SCO). Brewster won 5-3 against David Edwards (Aberdeen, SCO), then won 8-5 against Craig Reid (Kilmarnock, SCO) and 6-2 against David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO). Brewster went on to lose 8-7 against Smith. Brewster responded with a 7-5 win over Colin Hamilton (Gogar Park, SCO). Brewster won 4-1 against Logan Gray (Stirling, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
