Starting with hammer, Mayhew scored 2 in the first end, then forced Purcell to a single in the second end. Mayhew scored 2 in the third end, then added a steal of 4 in the fourth end for handshakes and the 8-1 win. In the semifinals, Mayhew defeated Kendal Thompson (Halifax, NS) 7-5 and Purcell defeated Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) 6-5 in an extra end. Stevens and Thompson earned $1,000CDN and 9.154 ranking points for their semifinal finishes. In the quarterfinals, Mayhew defeated Greg Power (Halifax, NS) 8-2, Purcell defeated Mike Callaghan (Halifax, NS) 9-4.
