scotland made a freeze in the 10th and brad hit 1/2 instead of a third
lots of luck in curling - otherwise the team that curls 90% on arena ice would beat the team curling 80% everytime
its a dying sport that has fewer and fewer competitors every year ... only ten people make a living - and 5 are announcers
really really really

it's nice for USA curlers to be able to watch several of these games but where did these announcers come from? They are just awful

Any theories why Gallant is breaking down?
- Injuries?
- Burnout?
- General malaise?
Gushue also said his lower body is starting to bother him too!
Doesn't bode well for their chances!
Gushue is almost always so accurate in his rock-stacking to the button game - - - - and Gallant is now the pre-eminent 2nd in the game - - - - he's usually in the mid 80s to mid 90s GAME IN & GAME OUT . . . .

that shot mouat made for 3 against italy was ridiculous. david murdoch has it on his twitter if you didn't get to see it.
i love this team. they're fun to watch, they can make everything.
i think gushue will be okay. he'll work it out. if this field was tougher and if they were still going with a 4 team playoff i'd be more concerned but he should have things figured out by the end of the week and i still don't think he's finishing anything lower than 2nd after round robin. edin, kim and walstad are his biggest obstacles remaining .

could just be fatigue. i mean..i know they had that break but there wasn't a lot of rest between the brier, the elite 10 and now this event.

Isn't that what you said about The Mean Girls - isn't that what we all said about The Mean Girls?

You could easily be upset and go 0 for 4; although I think Mouat Magic temporarily stalls tonite vs. the Killer Swede!
We'll see what the current state of Gushue is vs. a good Swiss squad.
Brad barely slithered by Russia - and then the Children of the Corn stomped him yesterday!

I believe I have the official Men's World Curling site saved, but have not been able to find the "daily newspaper" that all other championships put out daily on their sites. Anyone else see it? Am I looking or have the wrong paged marked?
Thanks!

If fatigue is a problem for any team, it should be Sweden. Canada should not be fatigued

Poor Greg Persinger has thrown away three in a row with the 160th shot of the game.

LUCKY
STRUG-GA-LING
Joe Namath on line 3, team Canada is Strugggggaling.
However, a win's a win. They better figure it out or they'll be in the 4-5 game.

Russ, Vic & Cheryl Silver really trying to coax/cheerlead Gushue to victory.
They really know the impending disaster if Goo doesn't make it to the final - or gawd forbid, the semi-final. . . . .

Make that 4, albeit with the 176th this time.

you got to feel for persinger. the team could easily be 5-0 right now instead they are 1-4. all on last rock shots to win
it's obvious greg crumbles at the final pressure moment. he did well at nationals but worlds at home is an all new kind of pressure and he's cracked continuosly.
the team around them will really need to talk to them tonight and help them. the team looked broken after that one.

italy - a team with only 2 teams, second throwing last being 23, curling 10 games a year for fun , taking Canada to last rock , playing a runback double that tics , 1/16 inch more on front rock away from perfect , and curling 85 % equaling 2006 gold medal winner that has curled 150 games a year for 20 years with top 3 front ends in the world ,
hardly qualifies as a choke ...
and Amos is definitely the bigger man...
and phister from alaska in ee coming up 3 inches light on very tricky ice is also a good shot .

little confused as to why mosaner didn't play the draw. there was backing if he needed it. he even could have played some sort of hack weighter.

WC shaping up pretty much according to form.
Edin taking the lead role in the Nasty Boyz/Mean Girls model - no shot too big for them but even though they're a bit worn down - they're still throwing out their A- or A game
Gushue - now in the role of the "Dearly Beloved" model a la Jennifer Jones. So much respect but tons of flaws and warts injected into their game. Using brain & wily experience vs. shooting lights out. (like Jones)
Mouat - young whipper-snappers in the Val Sweeting/Brendan Bottcher or Kari Einarson model . . . not quite ready to win, can long unbeatable for end upon end then with no explanation trip on an egg.
Norway - need better pants. Ready to contend for gold if either Edin or Goo flatten out down the stretch.

predictions this morning:
russia def. japan - russia improved this year and looking pretty solid. japan picked up 2 wins in a row after an 0-3 start but russia's experience should help get over the line
scotland def. germany - scotland a little lucky to be 3-1. in their last 2 games they've played sloppy 2nd halves that cost them against sweden and nearly did against the USA. germany is stubborn so they'll need to be focused all the way through. scotland should get the win though
canada def. korea - canada has looked pretty average here so far. need to step it up and i suspect they will at some point. lucky escape last night. should get the win here today
italy def. switzerland - will depend on how mosaner recovers from that miss yesterday afternoon. but italy is better overall
afternoon draw
china def. norway - this is where i think norway's downward spiral begins
sweden def, united states - US has the most decieving record here. could very easily be 5-0 but sit 1-4. need to figure out how to start winning these games but don't think it'll be here
scotland def. netherlands - netherlands are a stubborn and solid team. they've pulled off some big upsets before and could here but i think scotland will come out on top
canada def. japan - brad should get his 2nd win of the day. japan is improving but not enough to take down brad
night draw:
korea def. switzerland - korea will get back on the winning track here
china def. italy - a tough one to call but take china to edge it out
sweden def. norway - norway will take a 3rd straight loss here unless edin has an off day
germany def. russia - another one that could go either way but think germany edges it out

Especially for Italy - the tall kid had Gushue in the guillotine - forgot to pull the switch!
Don't know if he can recover after that - and then getting pelted by Switzerland. . . .
