Yeah. So no cameras set up at the MB Scotties, at least not yet. Thinking an overnight crew might do it tonight. Einarson threw a stinker on her hammer to lose to Ackland. Place was almost full for the morning draw. Capacity 1300, but only 800 seats, so standing room only is my prediction for Friday. All the locals are swamping this event. They are in the middle of curling country. Great spacious venue.

These provincial streams are fun to listen to! These aren't the professional televised productions, so there's a lot of hot mic moments that you rarely hear on TSN/Sportsnet.
A couple of good ones I've heard so far are some gossips about Scott Chadwick being a beast sweeper, and Taylor McDonald looking like Snow White.
Actually yes, then some mispronouncing of names, positions and who has the hammer!
From what I see, Homan could be challenged by Duncan & Murphy, looks Balsdon tried. But it's not so much that Homan is playing the lights out, it's that the other teams are missing shots they shouldn't. Light on key draws, flashing hits, throwing through or deep...not sure if its ice or nerves. But I much appreciate the online broadcasts!

So, apparently Thursday was SRO so the crew set up another set of bleachers - now 900 can sit... 400 can stand. They have Hydro spools for beer drinkers around the corners of the ice. Guaranteed packed house tonight for Jones/Einarson bout. Rumour is final will be televised but I haven't seen cameras yet. Maybe no overhead... ends only.

Face it. The talent pool in Ontario is pretty thin. When teams like Brandwood/Hastings/Harrison who are getting long in the tooth can only amass a total of 3 wins it does not bode well for the future here in ON. There is only one team from ON that has a hope of contending at the Scotties and that is Homan.

which shows on the draw schedule at 9:00 and 2:00.
I did scroll through to Sunday on Sportsnet and saw it.

The newspaper and curlmanitoba draw has the finals at 4pm Sunday. I'm thinking 2 is the usual time and it avoids the Super Bowl but not 100% sure. Need to plan drinking/food delivery schedule.

I’ve seen lots of empty seats at Cornwall (ON), I hope it’s just the angle of the tv cameras.

Wow. Tonight's game Jones/Einarson was stellar curling. Wierdness though, it was MUST WIN for Einarson, until Ackland lost - then she was assured a tiebreaker. Until that point, she was squeaking guards to front button draw and making amazing called thin triples to save an end. Seemed invincible. Then, Ackland lost to Robertson - and they needed Einarson to lose, and Jones came on strong! A force then two down coming home WITH. Measure for the third point - Umpire passed the measure THREE times before declaring the potential 3rd point for Jones was not as close as Einarson's. Hello extra end. And it was messy. Two misses by team E. Cluttered front. Jones drew to edge button. Covered, but left daylight. Einarson's sweepers were robotic and the screaming was insane. They dragged it in. Win for Einarson. No tiebreaker. Fleury wins her group, Watling second. Einarson and Jones are 1 and 2 in the other group. Crossover games of these four teams on Saturday, and overall standings dictate playoffs for Sunday. Tonight's game was great. The event is steaming with excitement.
p.s. - the camera wracks are up on the ceiling and the commentators' booth is set up at the home end. So TV time on Sunday.

How do you define "long in the tooth"?

CurlBC on Youtube
Long time, first time. I didn't see anyone else mention it yet, so ... CurlBC channel on Youtube is covering the Cotter - Longworth match in BC. For those of us in the States, it's nice to have the provincials available on YouTube! Hopefully they'll have the rest of the BC matches and maybe the Curl Manitoba channel on YouTube will do the same? Wishful thinking? I would have loved to see that Einarson-Jones match-up last night. Damn.

Over 40 is a good bench mark. You have to admit this describes Harrison and Hastings. My punctuation was abysmal. I know that CB is not in that category. But at 24 she has got to start putting the pedal to the metal.

looking at the playoff schedule and the tv listing, they now have the morning game at 9:00 a.m.

its really great to see that all the usual suspects are reaching the finals i their provinces..kind of..not really
i really miss the days when different teams were getting to th scotties and brier. it gets boring and repetative to see the same teams there all the dam time
one of the things i really like most about the scotties and brier is seeing new teams break through and achieve their dream(ex. mcdonald last year) so im hoping we get some drama here late. maybe hartung winning saskatchewan

rachel isnt exactly old but i get your point about wanting to see younger teams make noise. i feel the same way about teams out o the atlantic provinces. they have promising teams like comeau but they just cant seem to get by the old guard yet

In order to see new faces at the national level, they just gotta grind it out like those grizzled old warriors of the game did to get to their level. It's character building!
Legitimately rooting for Howard to win the Ontario Tankard. Love seeing the vets do their thing.
Semi final for Manitoba will be between Jennifer Jones and Fleury, winner gets Einarson.

i'll be hoping for tardi and brown to win BC today. brown has been on the cusp of a breakthrough for a while and it wold be good to see the future of BC curling break through..on both sides
dunstone will probably win the semi and set up a rematch o last years final..though i'd prefer hartung
i could see jen going through einarson and fleury but i dont think she will. einarson v.s jones ffinal with einarson wining
i actually think glenn wins today. john has gone unbeaten so far and it would be cruel to lose today but its just a feeling
does it really matter who jacobs, gushue and mccarville face in their finals?. itd take a gargantuan effort and luck for the other teams for them not to win today. that said it would be great if someone else won. its just getting ridiculous
roach can beat grattan in new brunswick but i still pick grattan for the win
koe should win northwest territories

Eventually ML will be right. He has been calling Jennifer totally washed up for years , but she just continues to win and keeps up with the best. Just read an article by sportswriter stating that Einarson played outstanding in the rr match and yet only won by one point in an extra end.

There some great women curlers in Ontario, but they are all on different teams. It would be fantastic to see some come together and put on a real challenge to Rachel. I think Duncan could do it, but they likely need to take curling full time.

i can kind o understand where legend is coming from. as fans we tend to be harder on teams or athletes we like than anyone else, even they can be. its also hard and frustrating to watch a favorite of ours decline
i think he's venting as a kind of therapy to kind of deal with the situation and let out frustration.
we'll see what happens with jen. im kind of pulling for her to win out today. the thing he seems to forget though is that its a team sport. jen needs support from the front 3 and the act is its not as strong as it used to be either
