Manitoba sets date for Provincials

https://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/curlman...fiers-1.5210945

Shout out to Don Duguid who was appointed to the Order of Canada.

Donald Gordon Duguid, Winnipeg.
Named a member of the order for his contributions to the growth of the sport of curling, as an athlete, broadcaster and teacher.

Doubt they will be curling in feb

Still no vacine and when it comes its for medical people, teachers , and old farts like me

Kinda of an iq test for curlers -

Is it worth it for our teamto curl ?

Yes. Below 80
No Above 80
Lol. Above 100

Lucky toget 4 good teams entering

Also doubt that province wud approve

I have been pretty good at isolating for 10 mnths but every week i hear more and more cases close to home

Not afraid to die but dont want to burden the health care systtem - they are doing a good job but must be getting really tired

I agree mostly w/ Fresca but also realize incredible hubris by folks like Rebsy Coutts in Manitoba Curling Assoc. will foist a provincials upon us, albeit with only a handful of women's teams (8) and 1/2 the normal men's field. All it takes is one case infiltrating the incredible lock-down security of the Selkirk Arena and the thing will spread like wildfire.
If they go ahead - teams should be allowed an extra spare player (6 player teams vs. 5) and if any player found with covid, that team immediately suspended from play (contact rule) and forefits any remaining game(s).

Selkirk only 35 miles up from Winnipeg. I was looking forward to going out for a day but don't want to be infected by the Coutts-Virus. . . ! ! !

Duguid was all of the above - especially charismatic as a nervous shot-maker who would never have needed today's Koe Klocks.

Also fairly proficient as a salesman for at least 5 yrs. (ie. curling equipment like his patented Duguid curling shoes) until Rod Hunter & the rest of the team came huntin' for their cut of the action, even initiating court action. Duguid just threw in the towel at that point. He could have been Arnold Asham in another world - except Asham was barely a 60% shooter as a skip - good dancer and great red brick sliders, though . . .! ! !
