I didn’t get a chance to see it, but what happened at the conclusion of the third end of the WC1-SSK game? Something about a kicked rock resulting in an extra steal point for Saskatchewan? Evidently huge as they won by one. Anyone?

what happened was sherry had brushed the flarey rock and when it stopped it was pretty clear that saskatchewan was sitting one but selena, in her haste declared that saskatchewan stole 2 and for some reason no one else bothered to check to varify.
it was pretty obvious that saskatchewan should only steal one. im not sure why selena was so eager to give them 2. whats more im not sure why sherry, in the spirit of being a good sport didnt stop her and say it was only one. chelsea herself looked pretty confused

flarey is yellow. anderson is red.

Thanks, Misty.
Wow! That could be a very costly decision to kick the rock away if things go awry for Team Flarey tomorrow. Certainly looked like just one point to me, understanding that TV camera angles can lie.

I mean I guess it would have been super duper sportsmanship to stop her so you could check both rocks real quick, but it’s not exactly bad sportsmanship to say “ok” when Njegovan says you’re closer when she was the only one to check both rocks.
I’d imagine Anderson thought it was pretty close, and an opponent conceding the point should be good enough if you’re unsure.
I’m comfortable assigning 100% blame to Njegovan and 0% to Anderson. Not even a fraction above that.

Other game of note is Zacharias (who's out of it) vs. Rachel Homan, coming off an embarrassing loss to perennial sub .500 Kerry Galusha this morning. In usual times Rachel would dissect the Manitoba babies like she's never done before - but Rachel is starting to tire and won't go after the Zacharias jugular. Rachel still wins but only by 3 to 5 pts. Good experience for the juniors to take on a commanding, scary team.
Not an embarrassing loss at all. Disappointing? Yes. Both teams played well but Galusha and her team had their best game of the week. Today, the better team won, Yes that's now 1-10 or something like that at the Scotties vs Homan, but everybody has their day. Well done Galusha.

He left the team around 2011, couple different jobs now city councilor in St. John's. After he left Gushue had a merry go round of players come and go the next few years. Fry, Casey, Danbrook, Nichols left, and it wasn't until NIchols came "back home" to join Walker, Gallant and Gushue it all came together.
Great team, great guys.

I'll admit I was channel hopping and missed what happened. However, if it's a stupid call, that's where the predetermined undercover coach signal of standing up with hands on her head comes in for the time out. Officially can't be called by the bench but, if it's that bad a call, stop it.

I just came on curlingzone to check the scores from tonights games. Whoever posts the scores must be tired as everyone seems to be playing in the 6th end. Wondering who won their games tonight.

" Mary might be a doctor by now...no?" ML
Maybe that's achievable in
Manitoba son but at Queens in
Ontario it takes four years
following your Bachelor's degree
to obtain a Medical degree and if
you want to specialize add at
least four more years.

Thanks for the update. City Councilor - that's great! Met him several times at the Hamilton Brier when I was a ceremony volunteer.

such an exciting day today. so much fun, so much to be decided. potential for a lot of drama
this is why, in my view the scotties trumps the brier. its so much more exciting and always down to the wire to determine who will be there in the playoffs.
brier's last day is almost always basically a formality

How does an "erratic skip" affect the percentages of the leads? Maybe Jones isn't putting the broom in exactly the right place for a Lawes tap and roll but there's absolutely no way she isn't putting it close enough for a guard shot.

Whoops my bad there is no final 4, it's a final 3. The top team from the 2nd round goes straight to the final and 2-3 playoff in a semi.
I'll adjust slightly, Homan will be #1, Brown will beat Einarson in semi then Homan in final.
Nice prediction there Nostradamus, your pick to win didn't even make the first cut! Don't quit your day job.

Nice grinding by Team Peterson. Rookies started 1-3 but won 4 straight to advance and they match up pretty well with any of the 4 teams they will play from the other pool. At any rate they will leave the Scotties a much better team than when they came in.

I felt real bad for Galusha. Last 2 ends, 10th and extra her team in front of her had 8 peel attempts on guards. They made 3 and had 5 nose hits or jams to leave 5 or more guards out front. Pretty hard to score or prevent steals when your team leaves a mess out front for you.
Trying not to be too negative but at this level if not 8/8 than at least 7/8 basic peels should be made.

Also, I've said this before but the worst phrase in curling is "I don't hate that". NO, tell us what you like or prefer, you're the one throwing. Hurt feelings on shot calls will not win games. Much better to have the thrower playing the shot they think they can make, believe they can make, rather than appease the feelings of the skip. If you disagree, talk about it after the game, rather than give in to a shot you don't believe in.

McCarville being there would have been behind Anderson. It would have worked out though because those would have been the groups had. Had she been behind St-Georges, we might not even talk about balanced groups. McCarville doesn't have a good CTRS ranking by design because she doesn't play 8 events like the other teams ahead of her. McCarville only played 3 spiels outside of Scotties and playdowns. And often the big thing about Scotties is that you want to avoid McCarville in your pool because you know she's better than her CTRS ranking. If there is a team underrated with that, it's her. I don't know many teams that don't travel much and that are that good in Canada.
