Some observations as Curling in Pandemic Times winds down for 2021 . . .

1. The biggest name in curling around the world is undoubtedly KERRI EINARSON. The Gimli lassie has overcome so many obstacles in her career and deserves the accolades most are pelting her with. She's a great shot-smith to be sure but an even better person. Now imbued with some extra rub from Brad Gushue she's more confident than she's ever been and finally she has more on-ice fun than any competitive skip should have during a curling game, even tension-packed playoff matches.

After Kerri, I'd say the biggest names (in no particular order) are: Kevin Koe, Brad Gushue, Bruce Mouat, Alina Patz, Rachel Homan, JJ, Old Glenny Howard, Eve Muirhead, Anna Hasselborg, Satsuki Fujisawa.

2. Bruce Mouat finished the slam season on a massive high note with his subduing of perennial contender/champion Brad Gushue. Mouat 3rd Grant Hardie destroyed Mark Nichols in the big game while Lammie Lambasted The Big Guy, Brett Gallant at 2nd stone.

3. No one can deny the huge difference in curling coverage between TSN & Sportsnet. TSN sticks to 1 game for the most part while Sportsnet skips all over the place to find key situations. Both have detriments but I'll take more shots and situations every day of the week. Also, Kevin Martin has supplanted all TSN announcers (EVER) as the best color commentator the sport has known.

4. Good luck to Team Kerri Einarson at womens worlds. What a grind this season has been but if anyone can pull it off its The Gimli Glider. She'll also be in action at the world mixed doubles w/ Mr. Gushue!
