Logic of the Scotties DRAW?

Somebody can please explain the logic of the Scotties Draw.

In the A pool, we have the 1 and 2 seeds playing on the final draw, which is kind of nice. Maybe that could be an important game for top place or something.

But in the B pool, the top seed has a BYE on the final draw and is not even playing!! The top 2 seeds meet somewhere way back in their 2nd draw.

With 2 identical pools of 9 teams on 4 sheets, why make different draws for each??

Day off

Two teams get a day off on Monday. Canada and New Brunswick. Advantage or not? Would be interesting to see how each teams schedule compares.

Long week

For instance Alberta plays every day and so only has one day with two games and six days with one game. New Brunswick misses both Friday and Monday and so has three days with 2 games and two days with only one.

Early birds

Manitoba has 4 8:30 am games, WC2 has none. Two nine team pools certainly created a challenge for whoever did the draw.

That is an imbalance that would be unacceptable in my club's C group playoffs let alone a national championship. It is not that hard to create a balanced draw no matter how many teams unless you are CC doing it by committee no doubt.

It would be interesting to know if it was computer generated. Doubt if tv would have an influence on who plays who when. Too bad it takes so long to go through and suggest alternatives but without doing that it is hard to criticize in a meaningful way.

WC2 does have one early game. Still unbalanced but not as bad.

Between the Hearts and the Brier, you have 4 identical 9-team pools.

You would think that once you have your seeds 1-9, one run can create the same draw for all 4 pools. If you want seeds 1-2 to play on the final draw for TV...as they do in the Hearts Pool A... then the 1-2 seeds would be playing on the final draw in ALL pools.

Instead, seeds 1-2 play each other:
Hearts A: last draw
Hearts B: their 2nd draw
Brier A: their 6th draw
Brier B: their FIRST draw.

You may have misread the schedule.

Manitoba has 3 early games, along with 5 other teams. There is no early game on Monday.

In general, the schedule if fairly balanced.
In Pool A
Everybody gets 2 early draws except WC2 gets 1.
5 teams get 2-game-days twice, and the other 4 teams once.

Pool B has more chance for 2-game days, because the Pool plays 2 games on more days.
3 teams get two 2-game days and early draws, and the other 6 get three.

I doubt that it can get more balanced than that, given the
"2-draws, 1-draw" structure.

these draws have to be computer generated. i do fantasy curling tournaments where i've made draws by hand and its a maddeningly frustrating process.
