Women's Olympic Preview

After what she's shown so far in Calgary you have to favor Silvana Tirinzoni w/ Alina Paetz tossing 4th stone. If it was just Silvana I might not even place her top 2 or 3, perhaps 4th.
Anna Hasselborg will represent Sweden and has a mighty powerful team. She'd tuck in right behind the Swiss.

In Canada the fight will really be on for Canada's Olympic spot now that Einarson has secured it.

Einarson will no doubt be a mild favorite with Rachel Homan breathing right up behind her.

Obviously some other viable contenders for the Canadian spot.

Jones is the most prominent monster in the field - her feats of accomplishment have been legendary but I fear a tragic waste of great curlers as JJ is curling way past her best before date. That said, you never know when an old monster can rise up again.

Other viables, perhaps even a tad ahead of Jones are Tracy Fleury's team, Casey Schiedegger & Laura Walker. All have come of age and no longer curl with a sense of fear or panic. Scheidegger is the most viable longshot but she's still a longshot.

Wonder if Krista McCarville can qualify? If she does she can present a handful - even for Einarson or Homan, the presumptive favorites.

All the top Canadian teams need to play more international bonspiels...get to know how their Olympic rivals play. Funding can come from CC and other sources.

Thats for sure. However, I'm now of the belief that the better international teams play a different brand of curling when playing slam or cash events,

In world or Olympic play these international teams tend to lose the sand-bagging and torque up their scouting of Canadian champions - using all tricks available to thwart their strengths and take advantages of potential weaknesses.
Best examples:

1. K Einarson
2. R Homan
3. J Jones
4. C Jones

Jennifer Jones became THE GREAT DEFYER in her amazing Olympic run - playing so well personally that all comers were rendered useless and meeked off to compete for bronze & silver medallions!
