COVID-19 virus and Curling

Seeing a high number of posts related to COVID-19 completely misplaced in other threads (particularly the 'Team Changes' thread), there is an obvious need for a separate thread for posts which relate COVID-19 to curling and/or vice-versa.

All posts about what will happen to curling clubs, and what will happen to elite curling, after the current virus threat has diminished should be placed here.
As well, any posts relating individual curlers to the COVID-19 crisis should be placed here.
This will be much better than misplacing them in other threads which are there to discuss other topics.

Mother of Curler Ron Westcott, Grandmother of Curler Raunora Westcott was interviewed by CBC about how this pandemic compares with the one a century ago - she's 109. She is face timing... figured it out. bwhahaha.

Great perspective here. Unless you're a top team with either national sponsorship or Cc funding, you could be in trouble raising enough money to compete. Excluding the top 5-10 professional teams, the rest, especially teams 10-30 in Canada rely on local sponsorship to travel and compete. If these companies are crippled by this virus, they won't be able to sponsor either the teams OR the events. A 25k spiel suddenly is only entrance fees only. And with teams with much less sponsorship, they won't be able to travel as much. Less purse, less teams, less points will benefit the top of the top teams, the rest will suffer miserably. I'll say 2-3 years to fully recover.
