Mini-games for a curling party/event
So I rented two sheets and am having 15-20 ppl out for a party Saturday night, many of whom have never curled. I thought instead of organizing actual games, it would be more fun to throw together a few mini games, (i.e. draw the button, make the takeout, etc.)
Wondering what people have done before for events including non-curlers and how they've worked out?
After a few skills contensts, I was just going to throw together teams to play a two end tournament (4 ends total)
Just joined the forum looking for ideas and feedback so all input is welcome.
BTW, After 1 year in high school and 12 years away from the sport I'm just picking it back up and thoroughly enjoying myself.

Ever play the short game? You deliver from the hack into the closest house. Foot must stay on hack. No sweeping. Can play with any number of people and/or rocks. All about strategy.

Be careful with the mini-games, because with a bunch of beginners, no one will be able to make any shots, and it can turn into a series of consecutive badly missed shots.
My experience tells me that people who come out for the first time want the complete experience of sweeping, delivering stones, scoring an end.
Assuming that you have the sheets for 2 hours, adn will haev little help in terms of teachers to help show everyone, I would do this.
First on ice, form two lines on each sheet, adn have them sweep all the way down, then all the way back. This gets teh blood flowing and everyone warms up that way. Also lets beginners know that curling is moer work than it seems. Then take about 30 mniutes to have everyone just push out of the hack, not fall over, and release rocks down the sheet. Take 60 minutes to play abotu 3 ends of a game. Then leave the last 30 minutes for each sheet to have a draw to the button contest. I have found that this is a great thing to leave people with.
