What do you mean "stacked"? I think the B group is the tougher group - without having seen these rankings. B group is not weak.

id say both groups are actually quite equal in strength.
A has jones, birchard and meilleur
B has einarson, englot and overton clapham
B is slightly tougher just based on who's there but there isnt one terribly unbalanced group, i like how it turned out.
either way 2 very good teams are gonna be on the outside looking in once the playoffs come around. if i had to guess id say its gonna be meilleur and overton-clapham

After 12 years of on-and-off dating, and countless tabloid rumours, Cathy has apparently finally married Eric Clapton...

couple for early surprises with einarson, birchard and overton clapham losing games already.
menard took down kerri and nearly took down michele englot. wonder if she might cut one of those 2 out of the playoffs and advance herself.

Looks like Jones munched on a fawn - 10-0 in 5 ends! I hope she gets some more challenging games soon.

Can of worms here. But, I think that SK and NS see it as a community benefit. Here in MB - It's the WCF mentality - ching ching. The broadcaster becomes God. Is Shaw really doing a service? No. They are selling ads and making money. In SK, at least, they sold sponsorship instead of giving away the rights to a broadcaster and limiting accessible viewing. Their commentators are awesome and they have complete coverage. It is a choice made by the curling association. Maybe they are just lazy. It is a darned shame. We could have what SK has - at the prov level, but instead the curling association opts for the national model. They could think outside the box. Lots of benefits and maybe more bux.

I agree 100%. The irony is, these folks have the skills to produce a top-notch web broadcast (like SK and NS) but prefer to rub shoulders with the old-school media. So 1960's. Just need a couple of young ginks to see the money to be made by running the show independently. You can offer a lot of ad-time when you are broadcasting every game. Bottom line PROFIT for the association.

Anyone know what happened to Shannon? And how much actual curling Heather Ned has done this season?
Shannon has an upper back injury. It was posted in various media. Heather is in shape, obviously. Has the game in her head, obviously. Not sure how many games she has had this season.

And then another. I am strongly convinced this would not have happened with teams in the other group. Seems like concessions. These are experienced teams (Link/Falis) so, it leaves a foul taste in my mouth. Like, they don't want to be on the ice. Just a guess, and hope it is not true.

Right now, COC and Robertson are trying to put a stranglehold on Einarson and Englot, respectively. This Express group is MUCH stronger than the Asham group. No consessions here. GoGo CathyO

Well, Robertson now has to defeat Einarson for either Darcy or Cathy to make it into TBs. Gonna be tough. Both tough losses. Who is in second in the Asham Group? Wonder if they'll concede too. (tongue in cheek).

Was just looking at the format. Two 8-team pools....top 2 teams in each pool move through to the playoff.
That's a really tough format - very conceivable to go 5-2 and not even make the playoff.

Yep. The only way for COC and Robertson to make it through is if Einarson loses another - so GoDarcyGo... Though I like Einarson, too... would like to see TBs.

Congratulations to Briscoe on getting her second win. Northern teams are usually easy fodder. Not so with these women. Mind you, this is the weaker group. Meilleur lost a critical one to Birchard who has not performed well this event. Jones is really the only contender in this group. vs 4 or 5 in the other. I know. shaddup about it already. I think the seeding was skewed because COC did sparing at big events, but those results didn't affect the team seed. Just a thought for future (individual AND team results affect seed position?).
