Newbie Question About Stone Delivery

Is it within the rules to deliver a stone without a broom or approved stabilizer/stick/etc.. ?

Yes. A number of years ago, an Asian curler threw without a stablizer or broom at the worlds. I'll go, I'm 96% sure. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You are 100% correct. I remember that as well. I know all the years seem to meld together but I'd say 8-10 years ago. Either from Team Korea or Team Japan.

It was Jimmy (Je Ho) Lee of Korea. Here is a photo of him sliding. A bit of research hints it was 2007.

Thanks all for the replies!

I mainly wondered about this as I watch those with Manitoba tucks not seeming to need much stabilization from their brooms.

I understand that dragging your non-throwing hand on the ice when delivering a stone may have some impact on the ice surface, but doesn't the scratching of the broom along the ice surface, not to mention the knees and toes of the thrower affect it more?
