One of the most enjoyable sports books of all time for me was Harvey Penneck's Little Red Book.

Of those listed and hopefully still published is there anything along that line/format. Mixture of tips with stories and life lessons from curling

Re: Curling books

Just ran across a new one called Twelve-Foot Circle I found quite interesting, a full-length mystery fiction novel that is centered in the world of curling. The author doesn't get everything right about curling, but he treats the sport and the players with a lot of respect. For the novice curler it is a good introduction. For experienced curlers, the scenes are close enough and very recognizable. It is not an action packed detective thriller, though. The author takes no shortcuts but it reads very quickly because of the sharp dialogue between the characters. Good mystery with a bit of a dark tone running beneath the surface, like it's really about something other than just the mystery. The main characters are well-developed and really kept me reading forward. It's more about a journey of a young man who finds himself in the middle of a terrible family secret. I discovered it when searching for information about dimensions of a curling sheet and found a website for www.twelvefootcircle.com. I got it for my Kindle reader at amazon but can't find it in bookstores.
