Prize money equalized

During today’s women’s final at the Canada Cup, they announced that this year’s Scotties will have a prize purse equal to that of the Brier.

is this separate from the $1,014,00 government funding for curlers ?

I recall that the government paid $100,000 per brier/scott winner for 2 years

If so a scott / brier win is worth $300,000 - tax free ?? Per team or $75,000 per player = to $100,000

The system is rigged so there is a few players on 5 teams , that based on 20 years history get to be pros - like asians and europeans -

Not much of a chance for the other 10,000 curlers to win

Perhaps the million should be distributed equally and more fairly

The champion teams win $100,500 each.

The total purse, however, is $300,000, leaving $199,500 that is dispersed to the other teams. The press release doesn’t say what exactly the 2nd place, 3rd place, etc. prizes are. It does mention that there’s a per-win prize, though, so if, say, the Yukon team pulls off even one upset, they’ll get a check.

The last paragraph says that Sport Canada also provides the champions with nearly $170,000 of funding over two years. This looks to be separate from the prize purse.

This has slightly more figures:
https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/...mount-1.5380307

"Both national champion teams will receive $105,000, while the second place teams will take home $65,000. Third place gets $45,000, leaving $85,000 for the remaining teams competing at the events."

Note that this says $105,000, not $100,500, so there's that.
