Manitoba mens

For as long as Manitoba has been curling and successful at it. You would think they could simplify a simple thing like provincials!!!
8 teams make the trip to play 2 games and 8 more for 3. WTF!!! Is Manitoba Legend the organizer.
Take a lesson from Alberta. Or maybe even from our own provinces women’s provs.

I have a thought about Manitoba's Tankard.... uh, I mean Viterra Championship format. So the lower tier curlers entered their local zone... uh, I mean regional playdowns. They paid extra for their competitor card and defeated the others in their club, and get cheered on by their club mates at the regional playdowns. And they win!! They pay to attend this event, many coughing up hotel fees and sweaters from their own pockets. **This is the prize.** They get to the arena ice. Finally. They have been curling since pre-juniors and now, they've made it to provincials (sometimes, again).
The pro teams don't hate playing the low tier teams. McEwen said it gives them a feel for the ice. They can throw lower percentage shots on the ice, if the score is in their favour, and it gives them a leg up for tougher games to come. It is a good event. It isn't broken.
There are at least 6 teams with all players under 25. Maybe others I am not familiar with. This system gets young players and old dreamers (whose youngsters wanna be there some day) onto the big stage. It is legit. It is fabulous.
case in point: Ryan Wiebe team (Still Jr. Eligibility) with Swan River's Carter Watkins at 3rd, a kid who saw local Brent Scales hit paydirt in '04(ish), just downed the Gunner. This event is a GOAL and a Launch pad.

Exactly. And as a bonus, while it ain't the Brier, a 32 team bonspiel in small town Manitoba in the middle of winter is a nice economic boost.
It works fine which is why I am sure the folks at Curlmanitoba will cut the field in half soon.

Love the green and blue rings (Viterra colours). Neither red or yellow rocks are camouflaged. The national and world championships should adopt as it makes for a better viewing experience.

Really liked that colour pop, too. Not sure about the grey carpet, but it's certainly different.
