Agreed, the skipping from the front end is scrambling Epping brain, he has enough to deal with having a surly Fry in the house

Koe v Homan

I assume the curling world is about to lose its collective mind over Koe removing a NL rock that was burnt within about 6 inches of it stopping?!

I'd hate to be him having to face the wrath that Homan did!

So I was glued to the Scotties. And, though I am more of a fan of the women's game, I'm now in Brier land. But I don't think I'm imagining it. They aren't sharp. Not as precise as the women and the commentator are more forgiving. For example, just now, Dunstone needed a roll, (on his first in 8) didn't get it. Nobody said anything. Epping made a 1/2 roll and got a steal out of it. Just one example. I don't find it exciting.
OMG I wanna barf. Sharpened stones. Mismatched rocks. he makes this, bread and butter... and then ANOTHER miss. Did not hear these "excuses" for the women, and they made the shots they called. Sorry. Not sorry. What a poorly played game. And the women came in on green ice with the same rocks. Dumb calls.

Epping ended up winning the game but if body language is a good indication, they are not a team of happy campers. Fry and Epping would not even stand next to each other in the house. Fry offered very little input. Laing was full of his usual laissez faire atttitude. Epping racing down the ice to show everyone what a good sweeper he thinks he is, If it wasn't a trial year, my guess would be so long guys.

And they’ve qualified for the trials! Yikes what an unhappy looking team

You could tell that Dunstone didn't really like the call on his 1st rock in 10, Moskowy talked him into it.

First of all ML, I thought you only body shamed the women curlers.....and he's at least 6'4" or 5".... 2nd, it wasn't Moskowy that called the hero shot for 3 straight steals...worst one was last shot in 10. Running the guard in against 2 and the loss, vs a heavy draw tap around a very high guard for the win, or worst case only give up one and go an extra, all on Dunstone.

The team needs a wise sage to step in and tell them better a call that keeps them in the game rather than pushing all the chips in against a flush.

I woulda called the tap too but Dunstone almost always prefers the hit. He was down 1 so he had to make whatever shot he called just to tie, any miss was a loss.
Maybe Dunstone will be Fry's next stop on his cross country Brier tour.

McEwen looks relaxed out there, previous years he was wound pretty tight. And this is huge game, 0-2 in that pool leaves big hill to climb for rest of the week. Most of the other teams I've seen have been pretty stonefaced and serious out there, might be fighting the ice as there have been tons of misses and half shots.

Hands up whoever had Gunner and Gratton leading the pool after 2 draws. 3rd straight Epping game in AM, is this CBC Ontario all the time network? Was hoping to see Crete and Que.

RE: Epping

Maybe when your team is 1-1, should be 0-2 if not for bad strategy, they deserve not to be on tv. FYI it's TSN....NOT CBC that provides the coverage. Let them argue amongst themselves off air instead of nation wide.

AND, any time a real down to earth with real jobs and real world problems team beats the pros with all the money and sponsorship...dance of joy.

Go any non CTRS team GO.

Signed, stop turning the Brier into just another slam.

Oh yes, like to see the Quebec horses on TV.

Giddy up.

Too Much Ontario

Is this the National Championships, or the Ontario Playdowns?
Including the upcoming game this morning (Sunday), Epping (Ontario) will have played in 3 of the 5 games that TSN has televised. The only times they haven't been the TV game has been in draws where they didn't play. Basically, if Ontario is playing in a given draw, they're the TV game.

TORONTO Sports Network, indeed.
And pathetic.

The problem is that most of these guys have been spoiled rotten with near perfect ice for years. When there's a rare occurrence it's not perfect out come the complaints. The team that is able to interpret and adapt will not be complaining.
If your team is able to figure out the ice first, much better chance of winning, with no complaints

Yah it's funny cuz when Russ played he never had a problem calling bad ice bad ice. But as an announcer he never does. The icemakers are always "the best". I don't think you need to dump all over them but they are professionals getting paid to do this because they are supposed to be the best and when they are off it needs to be mentioned.

Excellent point, the playing field is the same for both sides. Figure it out better and don't let it get in your head and your chances of winning go way up. Most pro golfers can shoot low in perfect conditions, when it gets windy and wet that's when the guy who is mentally tougher and has more shotmaking ability rises to the top.

Was the ice bad during the Scotties? Has it changed? Or are there just some whiny players out on the ice for this event. Figure it out. duh. Sure, it might not be traditional arena ice, but it isn't a Roseland one-sheeter au natural, either. These curlers brag about knowing how to adapt their throws and sweeping to fudge, loss of pebble and swing. So, beat your opponent at that game. The "not-my-fault" whimpers do not beckon pity. Look at the advantage all of these rinks will have at the worlds - same ice (improved or crappy). They have a big benefit. It should be called "interesting ice", not bad ice.

Doesn't just happen at this level. I'm sure there are complaints at every club when the ice isn't at it's optimal condition, sometimes even it is!

When the game is tied coming home, any score between 1-8 is not surprising.
