I hope you hailstone are wrong in this one, not because I have anything against you hailstone, but for the sake of Kim Min-ji.

Honestly, the Korean coaching thing didn't even cross my mind. I was thinking more of the pressures caused as a result of the relentless churn from the government/corporate sponsored systems.

There's a very good chance that both Satsuki Fujisawa and Chinami Yoshida would have both been out of competitive curling long before 2016 Worlds had Mari Motohashi not provided a better environment for them in their home town. I don't see any sort of Loco Solare environment for a Korean player to be able to fall back on when times get rough, and I see a lot of parallels between Kim Min-Ji and Fujisawa.

Anyway, nice fight by the Gim team today. I didn't expect that match to even make it to the final end, let alone remain competitive.

I haven't watched the final yet, so I don't know if they talked about this, but at some point we need to figure out a way to better differentiate the 2014 Olympics Team Gim and the 2018/2022 Olympics Team Kim.

I noticed that the announcers pronounced Gim entirely wrong at the start of the event (like "gym"). It got better later on, but they failed to realize that in Hangul, Gim is exactly 100% identical to Kim (which most English-speaking people also mispronounce, along with Lee and Park).

At this point I'm also not sure how Gim prefers her name to be romanized, because for this event Sportsnet uses Gim Eun-ji, but the story goes that her passport says Gim Un-chi. That's how her name is romanized in WCF/IOC records, so I'm not sure why she suddenly changed it now, assuming she did it on purpose.

Congrats to Teams Einarson and Gushue on their wins.

The glow from winning this event will last all summer.
