CMDR and CTRS are technically two different rankings, for two completely different disciplines of curling.

According to a tweet from Curling Geek, Martin/Griffin have already qualified.

I’m rather astonished at what Carey/Hodgson have done. Winless and down 4-0 in an elimination game, they’ve won five straight “lose and you’re out” games to reach the semis.

STandings are listed on curling Canada. I can’t copy and paste the PDF from my phone for some reason but it’s under team canada, ctrs standings, mixed doubles then both points are listed with and without ctrs points included. Also shows who’s already qualified and those ineligible because they’re on the 4 person team.

It says maximum 7 md results and or 3 max 3 ctrs results for the total going back to mar ch 15 2019 and this years results from August on.
Confusing I think.

Carey/Hodgson have won the semifinal and qualified for the Trials. Martin/Griffith didn't go easy on them and really made them earn it.

Yeah. Two great shots to finish the game and earn the berth for Carey/Hodgson. Martin/Griffiths are already in. St-Georges/Asselin also earned a berth.

Is there a date when Laing must pick a replacement player or decline his spot?

I don't know, but on that note, has Laing ever played mixed doubles with anyone other than Jones? The only one I'm aware of was Fleury, but that was at 2020 Continental Cup, so it wasn't exactly a personal decision.

I heard the commentators say one of them had the inside scoop but couldn't reveal - that probably the candidate for Laing's MD partner was currently still alive in the Brantford event. So, I expect we will hear soon unless it was Carey or St-Georges. Also, there are other qualifying pairs - with the CMDR points - so once the dust clears we'll know.

Assuming all teams bring their 'A' game, it is unlikely that Homan/Morris won't make it to the finals. Too bad Courtney was not interested because a combo like Courtney/Laing could have made that final very compelling.

Mixed doubles

Oh Lord. So Johnny Mo, the self-appointed fitness guru, is injured in a very abbreviated season. Kinda like when he showed up to a Brier with a buggered hand after a brawl? Or showed up to another Brier injured from having been “run over”!?! Rachel, I think he just dissolved any chance of your going to the Olympics in mixed doubles. Good people, read the room. Just stop pretending he is a good option.

Rachel curled (and skipped) terribly at the Trials. What makes so many of you think she's suddenly going to be transformed into a great curler now for the MD?

And why would Canadians want her representing them at the Olympics again? She was horrible four years ago and her lack of sportsmanship was embarrassing. I'm cheering for almost anybody else.

Just another let down from the "self appointed fitness guru". He makes me laugh at his approach to curling. Tape his mouth PLEASE.

With this dampening of event attendance in MB - I sure hope they at least create a bubble for the MD Trials and don't cancel and appoint a rep! I would still like to attend. Provincial guidelines update ystrdy said "no tournaments" - gulp.
"indoor and outdoor sporting and recreation capacity is reduced to 50 per cent for spectators, while games and practices can continue no tournaments will be permitted"

What happens if this gets cancelled? They can't even send the reigning Canadian champ.

On a more positive note - CBC will be streaming the event. Mike Harris and Joanne Courtney providing analysis. https://www.curling.ca/2022mixeddou...Ya-i6p0MCRD4l2w

Why are channels so addicted to Mike Harris? He is the least pleasant of all male commentators.

As for the Olympic mixed doubles curling trials set to begin Dec. 28 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.Officials working through the new restrictions right now and what it all means for the event. Sounds like we'll get clarity early next week.

He's not one of my favorites but I'll take him over Russ Howard who picks favorites.

I think he really is injured, he was sweeping yesterday with two sleeves on. Carter Rycroft back playing with the team today w/ Hebert playing Second.

Maybe he'd rather go to the Oly's as a coach (Australia) than as an athlete. Not saying injury isn't genuine, but he already has a ticket. Long road through MD trials - tonnes of sweeping. Still wonder if Homan can find a new partner for PlaP.

Yes -- maybe he too could invest in bubblewrap ;)
