I’m trying to find out how many games Brad Gushue has won in the Brier; and Nova Scotia’s all-time games won and lost record.

Curling records are surprisingly difficult to find on the web. With Soudog checking out, there doesn’t seem to be a central repository for Brier records, or Season of Champions events in general.

If you trust wikipedia all the stats are listed there by year. For NS my guess is 400 wins 600 losses. For Gushue just ask him, I'm sure he knows the running total.

258 posts an no one can answer what should be two simple questions. Proof that the CCA and the Season of Champions do not value accurate statistics or appreciate how important a record book is to marketing a sport, to the journalists who trey to write about it, and to the enjoyment of the fans.

And Gushue has many more than 114 wins. You are referring to his 114rh win in the 2018 Brier to break Russ Howard's record of 113 wins.

And asking Gushue seems a bit slapstick, when one of the premier Brier records should be easily available.

As to the "400 to 600" guess for the NS all-time win and loss record, please don't consider a career in statistics.

Only in curling...

Point proven...

You were GIVEN the answer. It's all on wikipedia. Every Brier every year. Look it up or don't complain others won't find the answer YOU were looking for. Yes CCA should have the ytd history of those stats that you're looking for, but sadly are not readily available if it all. And as for a career in statistics, I'm one for one, 100% in giving you the info you were asking about. Look it up.

You would be wrong. These numbers do not appear to be on the net.

Can you supply the numbers in question?

google 1927 brier, all won loss records are there in wikipedia

1928 brier

repeat

long and painstaking but the NS all time record can be figured from there, and my "guess" was about 400 wins -600 losses, plus or minus 5% 19 times out of 20.

The Gushue record can be figured google 2018 brier where he passed Howard and add the wins thereafter.

The bigger picture though is CCA should track these stats every year and keep them up to date for all to see, and have not. Time to hire an intern with computer skills to do just that.

For what it’s worth, Nova Scotia is 362-537, assuming the Soudog data to 2007 is correct.

Hopefully the CCA will pick up this project and add a stats section on curling.ca

For someone who calls themself a statman your research skills are sadly lacking. You have been told where to find the data. I will give you one link. ( in 2003 his record was 6-5 ) Do the rest yourself. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Nokia_Brier

DECADE: “For someone who calls themself a statman your research skills are sadly lacking. You have been told where to find the data. I will give you one link. ( in 2003 his record was 6-5 ) Do the rest yourself.”

Giant brain alert!

Well the fact I’ve published dozens of statistically-oriented curling articles, and discovered at least one historic Brier curling record which now resides in the record book, suggest research is not something I’m unfamiliar with. Indeed, I doubt there is much you can teach me about research. Certainly having me rifle through sixteen years of Brier data and then manually add up the numbers to conjure up Gushue’s great record is, shall we say, inefficient.

As well, you appear to have missed the irony in your absurd recommendation. Which relates to my original point that the Brier and other important curling competitions should have their own, readily accessible record book...preferably available on the net.

Look up the Dunning-Kruger effect.
