Any Canadian team could have picked him up to coach.

Last time WWCC was held was 2019. Final was Hasselborg (SWE) vs Tirinzoni (SUI). SUI wins this one.

This was a rematch of 2018 ECC final, which SWE won.

Many consider these two games to be the 2 best curling games in 2018-2019 season.

Didn't Swiss and Swedish team play in those slams? No reason for Canada to be tired. They just didn't seem to have the same desire Sweden had for whatever reason. Pretty sure Swiss will have same intensity, don't know if it will be matched by the non Russians or US.

The US coach is Canadian. The Swiss coach is Canadian. The Korean coach is Canadian. You call it choosing $, I call it growing the game worldwide.

You forget before the slams Einarson played the Scotties, a 10 day tournament. And then everyone on the team played the Mixed Doubles another 8-9 days. Then two slams of 5-6 days. That's a lot of high level pressure curling, much more than the European teams did which is why they appear to be fresher.

3 months away vs 3-4 weeks away...huge difference. Should have skipped mixed doubles or one of the slams. USA & Sweden didn’t do great in the slams either...but looks like that strategy worked out!

I'm surprised you can say that here, as true as it is. Funny.
Maybe we should be calling him "Richard" seeing as he likes nicknames so much.

Great announcing, just top notch.

Russ: It's amazing how much power you can get with an extension, I hate to call it a push.
Cheryl: I think the key to it is doing it accurately.

Spoiler alert: an extension IS a push and yes, doing it accurately is fairly important Captain Obvious.

I was surprised they never even looked at the freeze with her 1st rock. Would've got her out of the big end but instead she threw a hail mary that was never going to do much.

RCF ran over the shell-shocked Swedes.
They have a bold strategy. Pile all rocks into the 4 foot, always, regardless of who has hammer.

This is the future of women's curling, and it's tough to counter, as SWE discovered.

Also, RCF made Mike Harris look like a curling-imbecile, proving him laughably wrong with his condescending commentary end after end.

Like "RCF, without hammer, should keep this end clean to limit SWE " RCF piles a wall of granite on the 4 foot, leaving Hasselborg with nothing.

Bottom line, Sweden, when faced with a lot of opponent rocks in the house, wilted under the pressure and tossed rather poor half shots in response.

I'm eager to see how the Swiss respond to this aggressive, seemingly reckless strategy.

Yeah, reckless like a fox.

It reminded me of Shuster in his Olympic run. Someone makes a guard? Come around. Someone peels a guard? Come around. Someone makes a double? Come around. Someone angle raises from Edmonton and puts it on the button? Come around.

At the very least, even if rock placement isn’t perfect, these world class curlers constantly face situations they don’t face very often. At some point you just mentally take two throws off and boom, Kovaleva is sitting three buried and you’re struggling to keep the dam from breaking. It’s fun to watch.

Good points. There were multiple ends where SWE needed to make 3 consecutive double takeouts or runbacks in order to clear the rock-jam and score multiple points. And there are very few women's teams in 2021 that have that consistent hitting capability.

I think the one Kryptonite for RCF- style would be Team Homan.

Also, Kovaleva's style is not all that rare within overall curling scene. I think Bryan Cochrane and Sherry Anderson at recent Brier/Scotties played similarly.

Quite often, Mike Harris doesn’t need any help looking like an imbecile.

Bingyu Wang introduced this "ratchet up the pressure, draw -draw -draw on all ends" game plan about a dozen years ago and rode it to a World Championship.
Fast forward to 2021 and the steely Russian curlers have adopted it as their own. The U.S, knowing a good thing when they see it, jumped on the bandwagon to claim the bronze.

It's such a welcome injection of excitement into the women's game as we were treated to two absolutely engaging matches last night and today.

Like I said, Team Homan may be the only Canadian team with the antidote.

Congratulations to the Swiss team for the win.

They made fewer mistakes. Just better results for the Swiss rocks at every position.

RCF turned several 2-point ends into singles, and that was the difference between gold and silver.

The name calling is totally unneceesary. Mike is an excellent strategist. His point became evident when RCF gave up a 3 and very nearly a 4 when the score was 6 - 1.
