Colonial Square Classic - Women's 4s

This is a great line up of Western Canadian women's teams. (albeit none from BC) It is also a Double Knockout Draw - no pools, although with the 24, lower seeds are out in the extra series.
Looks like Michelle Englot and Darcy Robertson are mentoring. All of the SK young and veteran teams are locked and loaded. Manitoba teams are there too. I still follow Kelly Shafer and Laura Strong from their homes afar, and transplant Ashley Howard, all who call SK home now. Tough province. Fujisawa and Koana are there, from Japan and a few heavy weight superVets - JJones, Homan... oh, Lawton, Holland, Anderson. And even Laura Walker is there. Absent - Carey and a few other AB toughies.
CurlSask is great at streaming, but if this is a slam, we might not be lucky. I hope so. $40,000 purse. meh.

its kind of sad but something i've been noticing that a lot of the canadian events that used to attract a large variety of international teams no longer do. this used to bring a lot of international teams but it, along with the canad inns classic is mostly a canadian affair these days.

the ontario events drew a lot of international flavor but i have a feeling that had more to do with there being nowhere else to go and wanting to play

Over the last number of years there seems to be an increasing number of foreign teams complaining about their state funding/sponsorships being reduced or cancelled. If so, this would certainly reduce their participation in many events.

BC Team

There's one good young BC team in the Colonial Square 'spiel. Team Brown has done well against good competition and will play for a qualifier spot Sunday afternoon.

yeah, they are doing well. Corynn and her 3rd Erin are former canadian junior champions . they are progressing well. a lot of promise in that team.

I did notice the BC team. Young and tough, yes. There were also a couple of other teams from Edmonton.
3-2 strategy game Fleury over Jones. I'd've liked to seen that one. Good final to foreshadow both teams. Alas, I would like to see it streamed.

I have no idea what this means. When you score you give up last rock so are you saying they refuse to score?

Can I ask you why you call them "The Mean Girls"? Everyone on the team seems to be very nice.

Mostly because he thinks he's being wise by giving pet names to curlers. I think it's childish as do most of the posters on this site.
