Should Kaitlyn Lawes replace Val Sweeting?

Obviously won't happen this year or next because Val is verified for Worlds in a Bubble, Calgary and both are signed on for next year's Olympic Trials.

However, lets suppose.

Would Einarson be even more powerful with Lawes at her side vs. Val Sweeting?

For me, the answer is NO.

Yes, Kaitlyn has slightly better mechanics than Val - maybe an A- to Val's B++, historically Lawes has had better shooting percentages, too!

Kaitlyn is not a rabble-rouser. She seems to get along with almost everyone. Heck, if she can get along with JJ she's got quite the reserve of mental perseverance. My belief, backed by many is both women are greatly beloved by fans coast to coast. While Kaitlyn might supply a slightly better set of mechanics & better brushing, Val Sweeting, despite not being a shooting machine is a better fit for Team Einarson - as she just seemed to click with Skipper Kerri from the get-go.

After the Olympics, I see Lawes departing Jones as a far greater possibility than Einarson disbanding her team. If anything, Val might decide to stay in Alberta, setting the stage for Shannon Birchard to assume the mantle of Einarson's vice.

Time will tell. It always does!
